DFB: extensive package of measures for the 3rd league
With a comprehensive package of measures, the German Football Association (DFB) wants to establish a more sustainable economy in the 3rd league and ensure further development of the playing class.
As the DFB announced on Friday, the Bureau followed the recommendations of the Task Force Economic Stability 3. Liga as well as the applications of the League Committee and decided thus comprehensive changes. The single-track structure was confirmed.
We can be very satisfied with the work of the Task Force, the entire work process and the results, said the DFB Vice President Peter Frymuth responsible for the 3rd league.
Tom Eilers, Chairman of the Committee 3. League, showed confident that we thus enable another professionalization of the 3rd league and created a basis on which the league further develops.
3 . League: Good economic action should be rewarded
The results in the final report show that the requirements for the equity edition should be tightened from the 2023/2024 season. In addition, the so-called financial fair play of the 3rd league is adapted and admitted as a circulation into the approval procedure.

Further changes are already valid for the coming season. The minimum capacity for stadiums is reduced to 5000 places to meet clubs at smaller locations. For this purpose, the requirements are increased to the floodlight for improved TV transfers and to the lawn heating.
3 . League: DFB wants more intense Fandialog
The clubs must also perform a Fandialog at least three times a season and called a full-time fan commissioned.

The Task Force had been used in 2020 by the DFB Bundestag. Representatives of the clubs, DFB, regional and national associations, the players, fans and politics as well as external experts discussed measures to secure economic stability and anchoring of the 3rd league in professional football.
